Marketing Communications

PR Pacific provides marketing communications services to hospitals, physicians,  and other organizations. In fact, we’ve offered specialized healthcare communications consultation for nearly 20 years, and the members of our team -- all senior medical writers -- have previous experience as employees of healthcare organizations.

Our clients come to us for assistance with proactive media relations, copywriting and graphic design, and crisis communications. We work hard to generate visible results and to be sure our clients are satisfied, and we’ve been pleased that our efforts have received awards from the IABC, PRSA, the Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Association of Southern California, and others in the communications industry.

Proactive Media Relations

We generate positive news coverage by proactively pitching story ideas to print and broadcast media. With reporting and editing experience, we know what reporters are looking for and what makes a story attractive to them.

We pitch breaking news, scientific and medical research findings, human interest features, items about new technology and special events, and we’ve succeeded in placing stories in most major healthcare industry publications and in virtually every major market in the United States. Over the years, we have developed a network of local, regional and national contacts.

Our clients are regularly featured  or quoted in local and national news stories and in media outles such as Reader's Digest, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, Associated Press, UPI, Reuters, Forbes, People, the Los Angeles Times, Modern Healthcare, AHA News, Hospitals & Healthcare Networks, USA Today, the Washington Post, the New York Times, Dateline NBC, Larry King Live, 20/20, Good Morning America, Today, CNN, Oprah, NPR and too many more to list.

Science/Feature Writing

It takes a special skill set to be able to "translate" complex and highly scientific research findings into consumer-friendly information, and that's just what we do every day. Whether it's neurosurgical research involving a brain tumor vaccine that may one day eliminate the need for brain surgery or a new gene therapy that has the potential to eradicate high cholesterol, our job is to help medical and science writers, as well as the general public, understand the significance of these and other medical breakthroughs.

Working from embargoed manuscripts, we develop appropriate news releases and pitch them to key science and medical editors and reporters nationwide, following up to arrange news interviews with the study investigators who have led the research.

We also work with you to identify and pitch human interest stories working from compelling patient cases -- first, of course, procuring the appropriate HIPAA consents.

General Writing

Whether you need to communicate with physicians, consumers, patients, others in the industry, employees, donors or any other group, we strive to create copy that is not only compelling and effective but developed in the language of that target audience.

We help you develop your key message points and express them clearly, then integrate them with graphics that grab attention. Copy and art work together to attract, educate, inform and even entertain, depending on your needs. Give us a call for newsletters, brochures, news releases, research findings, speeches, ghost-writing, annual reports, overhead or slide presentations, or facility signage.

Crisis Communications

Sometimes circumstances far beyond your control converge to create havoc that falls at your doorstep.

As if the 1994 Northridge earthquake in Southern California was not enough of a disaster, one of the hospitals affected was also erroneously reported to be closed. We were asked to help address both immediate and long-term communication challenges, and we developed and implemented proactive media strategies to “show and tell” that the hospital was continuing to provide quality care and services in the face of this disaster.

On the other hand, when a remote hospital in Utah actually did close its doors, we were retained to create and implement a plan to communicate with those whose lives would be impacted.

We can assist in developing a crisis management plan, determining the most appropriate information for release, and managing media relations during an emergency to free you and your staff to handle other responsibilities.

Graphic Design

Graphic design and writing are partners in effective communications. The judicious use of illustrations, photos, charts and graphs and the layout of the page tell your story even when your busy audience doesn't have time to scan the content. We create graphic design that works with the copy to speak to the target audience and reinforce your key message points in any medium.
